Denrele reportedly witnessed the sudden demise of Goldie at Reddington Hospital in Victoria Island, Lagos, last Thursday. Since her demise, former Sound City VJ has been out of reach as he switched off his cell phones. Showtime however managed to contact him on phone during the week. But unlike Denrele, he declined comment on the death of his close friend and pal. *Late Goldie and Denrele “I don’t want to answer any question please,” he snapped. All attempt by showtime to get his comment on Goldie’s last moments on earth met a brick wall, as he suddenly handed over the cell-phone to the late songstress’ manager who muttered, “Right now, we don’t want to say anything at the moment because there are too many dramas already, and journalists won’t allow us rest.” Asked why the decision to keep mum on Goldie’s death, the singer’s late manager replied; “We don’t want anymore drama about her demise. Her family members would appreciate it, if you all allow things to be. Already, a lot of stories have gone viral on the internet and newspapers.” However, before her sudden demise, Goldie and Denrele had planned to debut with own reality TV show this February called – Goldie and Denrele: True Friendship. They had already shot some episodes. Beside this, Goldie was also billed to make a special appearance on the set of Nollywood actress, Lizzy Anjorin. Her death has generated a lot of controversies. First, the uploading of their wedding pictures online by her Malaysian based husband, Andrew Harvey, the emergence of a woman who accused the late songstress of snatching her husband from her and of course, the Kenyan rapper and former BBA housemate, Prezzo who has been accused of causing the bereaved family a lot of pain.

Speaking on the matter, Paul Play confirmed that his management was hiring the legal services of Festus Keyamo chambers to serve both organisations the suit. “Yes, it is very true that I am suing MTN and Ultima Limited for the unlawful use of my song. I have contacted my lawyers and they are on it” he said. Paul Play According to reports, the Rn B crooner is demanding a huge sum of N500 million as compensation from both organisation. Meanwhile, in a reaction posted online, Ultima Limited (Ultima) which has produced the reality show for the last five years, claimed that it has annually made the statutory payments due and required for the use of musical works for both local and international artistes used on the Project Fame show. “In the first two years, Ultima paid the Performing and Mechanical Rights Society Ltd/Gte (PMRS) – which was the government approved collecting agency at the time, for all musical works that Ultima used; and from the third year when PMRS became Copyrights Society of Nigeria (COSON), Ultima paid COSON for all the songs used in those years. For the past five seasons of Project Fame therefore, Ultima has annually made the statutory payments due and required for the use of musical works for both local and international artistes used on the Project Fame show. Ultima duly paid COSON for use of such music and as such if Paul Play has any issue with payment of royalties for the use of his musical works, it should be worked out with COSON and not Ultima nor MTN,” Ultima management stated.

No reason to be sad about my father’s death – Dr. Sid

Pop star and son of legendary late actor, Justus Esiri, Onoriode Esiri, popularly known as Dr. Sid, yesterday, said he was not shattered by his father’s death. The Over the Moon singer was all smiles, yesterday, as he encouraged the rest of the family. Speaking on his father’s death, Dr. Sid, said: “His life is being studied in universities in United Kingdom. He was over 70 years old and you know, any thing after 70 is a gift, so, there is really nothing to be sad about. He lived a good life. I will like to be like him when I grow up.” Late Esiri and son Dr Sid Also, yesterday, Mavin Records artiste, Tiwa Savage, and her manager-turned-fiancée, Tunji ‘T-Billz’ Balogun, were among the early callers at the Esiris’ Surulere, Lagos, residence to pay their condolences. The couple, who got engaged about two weeks ago, arrived at the place at 12:30pm. Esiri, a Nollywood icon and internationally respected actor-entertainer, passed on Wednesday, at 70. Paying tribute to the late actor, Mr. Afolabi Adesanya, Managing Director/Chief Executive of Nigerian Film Corporation, NFC, described the passing of Justus Esiri as “painful and an irreplaceable loss to the Nigerian creative industry. “The legendary actor was a great influence to all television and movie lovers, who carved an enviable niche for himself in the Nigerian motion picture industry as an actor, skillful and always at his best on the screen.” Adesanya, who expressed shock at Esiri’s death, said the good works of Justus Esiri will continue to resonate for a long time, as one of the nation’s finest actors dating back to the 80’s, when he played the lead role in the now rested Village Headmaster. Adesanya added that Justus Esiri’s role and contributions to the growth of Nigerian motion picture industry were acknowledged and rewarded when he was conferred with the National Honours Award of Officer of the Order of the Niger by the Federal Government in 2007.

Fans’ fear over Tonto Dikeh’s health

Tonto Dikeh who made her début in Nollywood few years back is naturally fair in complexion. But despite this, the controversial actress has gone ahead to tone her skin in a manner that makes her to look like a ‘weird beauty.’ Tonto Dike Her fans are expressing fear that the actress whose green veins have become so obvious through her now thin-layered skin, may soon break down with a skin disease. Speculations are also rife that Tonto may have gone through a whitening machine to get her skin whiter than normal. WG learnt from a tweet bird that despite Tonto’s denial that she’d stopped smoking, the actress is still secretly smoking her thing. A concerned fan of the actress expressed her fear this way: “This girl will not kill herself.”

Goldie’s last days

You’ve heard that phrase before, “Live every moment as if it was your last.” In this season, as we remember singer, Goldie Harvey who passed on last week, it now more than ever before bears repetition. If the ‘Touch my body” singer knew that she was nearing the end of her days on earth, would she have done things differently? It’s quite difficult to say; because the dead don’t talk. But as we go through the last days of Goldie Harvey, perhaps you can answer that question for yourself. Her final event The last event Goldie Harvey officially attended was the 55th Grammy awards in Los Angeles. The singer is said to have arrived the event in the company of Kenny Ogungbe, Founder of Kennis Music and Nollywood actor cum politician, Richard Mofe Damijo on February 12. *Goldie However, because there were no photos taken in the actual hall or on the actual red carpet at the grammy awards, many believe that the bunch could not get into the venue. Until Goldie’s passing on, social media was awash with mix feelings about her leopard skin dress as well as her pose on the streets of Los Angeles and not at the Grammies. There’s an event we are sure she actually attended; a pre-Grammy party with American Musicians Ciara, and Chaka Khan on February 8th. The Diva’s last words It’s quite difficult to decipher what Goldie’s last words were, but her last tweet is one to remember. On February 13, few hours before she passed on, Goldie tweeted on her personal twitter page, OLUWAG?LDIE ?@GoldieHarvey: “A season of abstinence enhances creativity, inner strength and major answers to prayer…?” Goldie’s last Photo shoot Goldie did her last photo shoot with her very close and equally controversial friend, Derenele Edun for SIMS magazine. Goldie looked Goddess-like in a black dress and magnificient make up for the shoot. Derenle was one of the last people who saw her alive. Her last Interview Goldie’s last known official interview was with an online station, Ibakatv in November 2012. In the five minute chat, the singer spotting a revealing gold dress opened up about her growing up, education, likes and dislikes and her experience in the Big Brother House. When asked about her beauty tips, Goldie said: “Surround yourself with happy people who will make you happy, because if you’re miserable, you’ll always feel ugly.” The smile seemed to disappear from her face when asked about alleged visits between herself and Prezzo. “It’s my personal life” she said, “it’s my business and how I choose to live my life is no one’s business.” Ironically, Goldie though playfully, mentioned death in that interview. Her words: “I hate cockroaches, if I see a cockroach here, I could just take off my clothes and just die.” The Controversial star’s last scandal “What was Goldie’s last scandal?” This is one question that we will be trying to answer for years to come. Just when we thought that the BBA drama with Prezzo would last us a lifetime, Goldie passed on mysteriously with a lot of hullaballoo as to the cause of her death. Then came Andrew Harvey with the wedding pictures. Before we could recover to take a breather, Ifeoma Harvey who claims to have been Goldie’s best friend says the deceased star snatched her husband, Andrew who is seriously ill in a hospital in Malaysia. Whether friend or family, fan or foe, the Goldie situation sure makes you wonder: “What if today was my last day on earth?”

Prezzo losing the battle to Goldie’s husband!

As things stand now,Kenyan rapper, Prezzo may not be ‘allowed’ to see the corpse of his beloved friend, Goldie, if the threat made by the songstress’ husband, Andrew Harvey is anything to reckon with. During the week, Malaysian based Briton, Harvey who happens to be legally married to Goldie and also, an administrator on Goldie’s official facebook page, warned Prezzo never to bother to attend Goldie’s funeral rites. He accused the Kenyan rapper of causing a lot of pain to the family. Prezzo However, following the threat, Prezzo during the week returned to his country. Those in the know said, he made his flight booking last Monday. Andrew claimed that he agreed with Goldie to keep their affair private but the mere fact that she had publicly moved on with Prezzo left much to be desired. Prezzo, Goldie and Channel O TV presenter, Denrele Edun were in the final stages of launching their reality show dubbed ‘Tru Friendship’ but all this has been dealt a blow. 4Sho 4Shizzy star had travelled to Nigeria to spend a late Valentine’s night with Goldie but unfortunately, that was the very day she passed on. Prezzo was speechless until the following day when he penned down a poem as a tribute to his dear friend he met in the Big Brother Africa house. Goldie’s death brought Andrew Harvey to the limelight with pictorial evidence of their 2005 Wedding which was followed with a warning to Prezzo to leave “him and Goldie’s family to mourn in peace as he had caused us lot of pain.”

Fresh off the runway : Rihanna unveils clothing line at London Fashion Week

Pop superstar Rihanna made a splash during the London Fashion Week as she debuted her first ever clothing line in collaboration with River Island, this past Saturday, February 15. London Fashion week is an apparel trade show held in London every year which attracts big name brands, and also some newcomers. Organized by the British Fashion Council, the London Fashion Week is one of the “Big Four” fashion weeks, along with New York Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week and Paris Fashion week. As this year’s shows wrapped Tuesday, top luxury brands such as Burberry, Tom Ford and Vivienne Westwood all delivered their collections in typically elegant style. However, all the buzz was about one designer; RIHANNA! The singer turned designer stole the show, and put her stamp on London Fashion week with a rare catwalk show, and some of the most risqué pieces to hit the runways the entire week. Her collaboration with UK high street brand, River Island was one of the most anticipated shows of the week, and it met all expectations. It was everything Rihanna; a quick 9 minutes of her racy signature fashion, loud music, and cocktails. Rihanna stepped into the music scene back in 2005, and became a style icon within a few years. We know Rihanna for her pop hits just as much as we know her for her fashion. Whether she’s going for a walk in the park, or attending the Grammys, the effortless style that Rihanna has is so intriguing. She is a trendsetter and very well worthy of her own fashion line. Her first ever collection comprised of 120 pieces, and was co-designed with her costume designer Adam Selman. The River Island collection featured a good share of the styles we have seen on the singer recently, like skin baring crop tops, and maxi dresses with thigh high slits. Most of the outfits were satin, jersey, denim, and sheer fabrics that were predominantly black. The collaboration between Rihanna and River Island which the British press has reported she is being paid $1.2 million went without a glitch. The fashion show just like the clothes was very Rihanna. She opted out of the traditional runway for a concert like stage with her models strutting to loud Hip Hop music blaring. At the end of the showcase the singer emerged from under the stage in a black jersey knit dress from her collection to take a bow. Speaking to reporters at the event, Rihanna said, “My first fashion week in London is my show. That’s amazing.” As the London Fashion Week comes to an end there is no denying that Rihanna fans are sure to love her debut designs. However, the line has received mixed reviews from fashion critics. While some have praised the new designer for sticking to her personal style, a review by the Huffington Post called the entire line “a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen.” MTV style’s ChrissyMahlmeister said in her review, “we’re totally on-board with her comfy girly-yet-grunge pieces,” and Elle UK’s Emma Sells said the singer didn’t disappoint. This line undoubtedly is designed for her young fans that follow her in millions on twitter, and the thousands who pack her concerts. They love Rihanna’s “good girl gone bad” image, that’s her brand and it’s what her young fans buy into. Many celebrities develop a fashion line and vow to design clothes that they will wear, but never deliver. Looking at Rihanna’s collection one can see her personality all over it. While fashion critics are busy lashing out at the contents of Rihanna’s collection, she will have the clothes flying off the racks. Her target audience is young, and River Island will definitely see fans pouring in trying to get a piece of the singer. If you are interested in wearing Rihanna for River Island you should start doing your crunches, triceps dips and squats now or whatever you need to do to fit in these clothes. The collection of clothing and accessories will launch internationally at River Island stores online on March 5.
